Workers Want Justice to Prevail: Govt. Urged to Ensure Rights to Employees: PWF

LAHORE: The working class of the country has urged the government to ensure provision of employment rights to people and formulate labour laws in conformity with International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions.
These demands were voiced in a meeting of trade union representatives and workers, held under the aegis of “Pakistan Workers Federation” (PWF), here on Saturday.
While addressing the meeting, PWF General Secretary, Khurshid Ahmad demanded of the government to provide working class with appropriate wages and ensure protection at their workplaces. He urged the government to provide safe working condition against accidents and occupational diseases. He also demanded provision of meaningful free education to each child and eradicating abuse to children and bonded labour in the society.
The meeting was also addressed by President PWF, Ch Talib Nawaz, Deputy General Secretary Osama Tariq and other representatives of the PWF.
Through a resolution, the participants expressed resolve for establishing an egalitarian society, free from exploitation and abuse of feudalism and capitalism and raising dignity of work. They applauded the role of Supreme Court for checking corruption being committed by high government functionaries.

LAHORE, Dec 10: The Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF) has called upon the government to ensure provision of employment, wages, social protection and gender equality.
“We the working class demands that the justice should prevail in society. The status of workers who are contributing their services to the de velopment of the country should be raised,” said PWF Secretary-General Khurshid Ahmad in a meeting to mark the International Human Rights Day here on Friday.
He said the government should also ensure implementation of labour laws and restoration of labour inspections to eliminate violation of labour laws at industrialist units.
Participants in the meeting lauded the role of the Supreme Court for checking corruption allegedly being committed by top government officials at the cost of the poor people of the country.
They also pledged to establish an egalitarian society free from exploitation and abuse of feudalism.
